At the end of the day, particularly if you are looking for jobs that might vary from what you were trained to do in the first place, you might find that you need to do more work to get your language skills up to the level that they need to be at. Take some time to think about where your comfort level is going to be. Would you take on the responsibility of translating in a hospital setting? What would you be comfortable doing?

If the bilingual aspect of the job is not the main purpose of the job, you will find that there is going to be less expected out of you. For instance, you won't be expected to translate for another person, so as long as your comprehension is high, you will be in a great place to get what you need. There are definitely some places where you can think about making sure that you need to write the language as well as speak it, but you will find that at the end of the day that there is a high premium set on making sure that the language is spoken.

Take some time and make sure that you think about what you need to do in order to get the job that you want. This might involve brushing up on the language of choice, or it might involve taking another year to study. Translator jobs revolve around the ability to make one person understood by another, and they will usually require a few years study in a place where the language is primarily spoken.

When you are thinking about bilingual jobs, remember that you need to really sell yourself on it. You will find that in many ways, jobs that have a bilingual aspect are very strongly based on being able to make yourself understood both accurately and effectively, so take some time and make sure that this is something that you are comfortable with. This can go a long way towards getting you the employment that you are after.
