Job DescriptionThe Occupational Health and Wellness Nurse will be responsible for the management, administration, and direction of the company’s occupational health and wellness program. This includes administering the workers’ compensation program, First Aid Department, and coordination of safety and injury awareness, prevention training and investigations.\r
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIESEvaluate and treat occupational injuries/illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with occupational first aid guidelinesCommunicate with team members and health care providers as needed regarding work status, work limitations, disability status, etc.Assist departments with identifying, evaluations, and implementing reasonable accommodations and return to work options for team members with restricted dutyAct as a Wellness /health coach and/or advisor educating team members on various health topics and enabling team members to make healthy lifestyle choicesSupport ergonomic evaluation efforts and provide input regarding ergonomic improvements and conduct or arrange ergonomic assessments and solutions, as neededManage OSHA and other regulatory required medical surveillance and fitness to work programs: hearing conservation, hazmat, respiratory protection, blood borne pathogens, etc.Administer the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program (DOT, Random Safety Sensitive, For Cause, Post Accident, Return to Work)Keep abreast of current medical and occupational health issuesPrepare OSHA log, injury reports and investigates incidents involving environmental health and safety.Develop and implement appropriate corrective actions, based on investigative outcome.Ensure compliance with Federal, State and other regulatory agencies, mandated regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, etc.) as well as Corporate Standards and GuidelinesSupport regulatory compliance regarding FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, and HIPPA as requiredParticipate in accident investigation program as needed to identify root cause analysis of incidents and near missesAdminister workers compensation claimsPerforms other duties as required.\r
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducations and/or ExperienceAt least 5 years’ experience as a RN, PA or NP and preferably at least 3 years’ experience in a corporate or industrial settingExperience and ability to manage emergency care situationsAbility to administer occupational first aid independent of daily physician oversight, and able to recognize when need for consultation with a physician is necessaryUnderstanding of federal and state legal requirements regarding medical confidentiality as well as occupational and environmental health regulationsCertificates, License, Registrations or Professional DesignationsRegistered Nurse, or Midlevel Practitioner (PA or NP) in good standing with a current, active and unrestricted License by the State of California SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIESProven ability to work both independently and as a team member with strong effective interpersonal skillsDemonstrated advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a diverse workforceExhibit professionalism at all times, understands appropriate corporate/workplace behavior and can handle confidential and sensitive situations appropriatelyAbility to be a self-motivated learner, to take the initiative in learningAbility to travel to field locations on a regular basis (day trips) Computer SkillsMicrosoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)Intermediate MS Excel (VLOOKUP function, sorting and filtering data) Language SkillsBilingual (English/Spanish) required - reading, writing, verbal Mathematical SkillsBasic math skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply) Other SkillsAvailable for call and work during off-hours with minimal notices, as neededAbility to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa statusAbility to drive between multiple locations, as needed PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (only provide if needed)Certified as occupational health nurse (COHN) or case managerCertifications in hearing conservation, spirometry, and Basic Life Support (BLS)\r
