EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION BI-LINGUAL PARAPROFESSIONAL TEMPORARY POSITION FOR 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR DISTRICT POSITION DISTRICT EDUCATION CENTER ELL PRESCHOOL PROGRAM 16 HRS/WEEK - MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY HOURS WILL VARY STUDENT CONTACT DAYS TIER 5 - $16.35 PER HOUR FOR SPECIFIC INFO, **** Start Date: Beginning of 2010-2011 School Year Banded/Graded: B-2-1 Responsible To: Building Principal/Classroom Teacher Position Purpose: To provide assistance to students and teachers in a classroom setting under direction of licensed staff. Application Procedure: Please apply online: ****(only online applications will be accepted) Early Childhood Special Education Bi-Lingual Paraprofessional Major Job Function Specific Tasks Knowledge, Abilities & Skills Supervision of classroom homework folders Presentation of classroom work under the direction of teacher Assist student in recording classroom assignments in homework folders Assist students in organizational skills Monitor student progress Organizational skills Regular attendance Patience Experience in working with students Thoroughness Personal dependability Knowledge and ability to use e-mail Delivery of teacher prepared lessons Facilitation of small groups Monitor student goals Document student progress toward goals Assistance to teacher Assemble bulletin boards Collate, duplicate, type materials Prepare student-teacher materials as assigned Attention to detail Group facilitation skills Ability to follow directions Regular attendance Highly developed communication skills, i.e. oral and/or written Ability to record and summarize observed data in a timely fashion Flexibility and ability to work with a variety of teachers Fluency in both Spanish and English Assistance to students with special needs Other duties as assigned Monitor behavior contacts Charting Carry out behavioral plans including the administration of positive, negative and logical consequences of behavior Toileting and eating assistance Bus arrival and departure monitoring Monitoring playground activities Safely perform student transfers Work with students in functional living skills, community and vocational environments - Participate in specific training and implementation of behavioral and social programming Attention to detail Knowledge of and experience with special needs students Ability to follow directions Patience Accurate recording of observations Willingness to learn about children with special needs Confidentially rights of students One person lift/transfer for students weighing less than 50# Two person lift/transfer all students weighing 50# or more Evidence of an understanding of the school culture and environment, and a commit- ment to carrying out the vision, mission and belief statements of District 112 Ability to work one-on-one with students with behavior challenges Ability to communicate pertinent information to parents by phone or in writing
